David and his wife Susie have attended Tahoe Forest Church since they moved to Truckee part time in 2009. In the fall of 1977 he gave his life to Jesus. David and Susie married in 1980 after David completed bible school. They settled in Oroville, California, raised their 3 children there while serving in the Oroville Church of the Nazarene. Their daughter Katie, Son-in-law, Ryan Kosich and grandchildren, Conner and Cora attend TFC. David started ministry as the (unpaid) youth director in Oroville and eventually taught adult Sunday school and home life groups all while building a business with his wife Susie. Over the last 14 ½ years David has taught part time at the School of Transformation in Oroville. He currently partners with Terrence in teaching the learning group, GrowthTrack at TFC. With plans to retire this May from his business, he wants to devote more time to serving Truckee and bring his passion for seeing lives transformed into the image of Jesus.
My vision is to help the church continue to grow as a place where people can feel welcome, to worship, and share the word of God. An added purpose is to conserve the beauty of the church property and use it to provide an atmosphere of peace, worship, and education as a priority.
My career spanned nearly forty years of public education serving as a teacher, principal, superintendent, and mentor for future leaders seeking a doctorate in educational leadership and career advancement. Being on many boards throughout my life has given me the opportunity to problem solve, contribute to the health and vitality of the community, and work with others to come together to make decisions for the best opportunities for children. As a public school superintendent in four California school districts, I had the incredible honor of serving and attempting to bring out the best in others. This is the defining point of my life’s professional purpose.
My personal philosophy is to make each day the best day of my life and let my light shine before men so they may see my good works and good deeds and glorify our Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
Kappie, her husband Steven, and their three boys 13,10, and 7 have been a part of our church family since they moved to Truckee 9 years ago. She works locally at Tahoe Forest Hospital as a nurse serving our local community. Over the years Kappie has been involved in various church ministries including nursery, care team, women's hiking groups, meal trains, attending Rancho Feliz service trip with 2 of her sons, and making gallons of hot chocolate for Easter and Halloween events! She has found a wonderful community of believers here who authentically seek to invest in each other's lives and live out the heart of Jesus locally. Kappie sees the opportunity of being on the lead team as a chance to serve God humbly in a new capacity and an answer to her prayer, "What , Lord, do you have me do in this next season?" She is excited to support God's people in this way and grow personally as she follows His guidance.
Kristi and her husband, Garry, joined the church 14 years ago and have been happily married while residing in Tahoe for 30 plus years. Their two adult children reside in New Zealand, Garry's native country. Kristi serves the church in multiply ways: she has taught kids classes, worked in the nursery, serves in hospitality, and is part of the Care Team. This year Kristi helped plan the women's fall retreat and currently co-facilitates the women's weekly Bible study. Kristi recently retired from early childhood education where she ran her own business for 11 years and has served Truckee families for 22 years. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Idaho. Kristi has a heart for missions both locally and abroad. She has a fierce desire to serve others and help members of our fellowship become fruitful disciples of Jesus. Kristi is an advocate of the organization, Awaken and serves on the non-profit, Truckee Community Christmas, as a co-chair of the winter coat drive.
We have a team of amazing leaders who provide Spiritual oversight and guidance over church resources and mission.
In August of 2013, Tahoe Forest Church purchased 52 acres along the Truckee River. In the winter months we meet in a converted construction garage and during the summer we meet in our Outdoor Amphitheater.
Tahoe Forest Church is home to a variety of individuals and families from all over the Tahoe community. We aren’t interested in religion but desire to truly know Jesus. If you haven’t already connected with us, we invite you to join one of our Sunday gatherings.
